Patients must express a financial need in order to participate in this program, as well as provide their doctor’s certification that there is a medical need.
Is cancer patient allowed in flight?
If you have active cancer, do your homework first. Many patients with active cancer can fly safely. If you have concerns about your fitness for flying, ask your doctor — some cancer patients (such as those who have had lung-related problems, edema, or recent surgery) might be at risk for complications if they fly.
Can cancer patients get travel insurance?
People with cancer can struggle to find travel insurance – and if it is available, it is often more expensive than cover for someone without of pre-existing medical condition. Some mainstream insurers will agree to insure your trip but will exclude cover for any claim that is related to cancer.
Can I travel after chemotherapy?
If you are just starting treatment, for example, or are undergoing chemotherapy, your doctor may say it’s important to maintain your treatment schedule. Or if you’ve had surgery recently, your doctor might advise you to avoid or postpone air travel, as it can increase the risk of developing blood clots.
Can I fly with Stage 4 lung cancer?
For many people living with lung cancer, going on holiday or travelling will have little or no impact on how well you are. You need to speak to your doctor and/or lung cancer nurse specialist before making any travel plans. They can tell you whether your cancer or lung cancer treatment may make travelling unsafe.
