Ticket to Ride: First Journey Game Rules
The goal of the game is to be the first player to complete 6 Tickets. There are 80 plastic trains, 32 Ticket cards, and 4 Coast-to-Coast bonus cards on the game board.
Shuffle the train cards and distribute 4 random cards to each player; place the remaining cards facedown to form the Train deck; keep all of your cards hidden from the other players! Coast to Coast bonus ticket cards are located next to the board.
The youngest player takes the first turn, and play continues clockwise around the table, with each player taking one turn at a time until the game is finished. On your turn, you can draw Train Cards or play Train Cards to claim a route.
Train Cards come in six different colors: yellow, green, white, black, blue, and red, and locomotives come in a variety of colors and can be used as a wild card when claiming a route.
To claim a route, play Train Cards that match the route’s color and number of spaces, then place one of your plastic trains in each of the route’s spaces, discarding all cards used to claim the route faceup next to the Train deck.
Completing a Ticket
Congratulations! You’ve completed one Ticket when you’ve built a continuous line of trains between the two cities on your Ticket! Tell the other players and flip it faceup in front of you. Draw two new Tickets from the top of the deck to replace them.
You can earn the Coast-to-Coast Bonus by saying “Coast to Coast!” and taking one Bonus Ticket Card and placing it in front of you if you have a continuous line of trains running from west coast cities to east coast cities.
End of the Game
The player who has completed the most Tickets wins; if there is a tie, all tied players win together, and the winner receives the Golden Ticket as a prize.
