Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey
Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is a Nintendo DS game that was re-released on the Nintendo 3DS on May 15, 2018. It features new character artwork, voice acting, animation, new demons, and three new endings.
The player takes control of an unnamed soldier from America (or Japan in the Japanese version) who will be working for the United Nations Schwarzwelt Investigational Team to investigate a mysterious black hole that has appeared on the region of the South Pole and is expanding day by day.
Commander Gore, Zelenin, Jimenez, and the Protagonist are the main characters in Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey. Gore is the overall commander of the Schwarzwelt Investigation Team, commanding the Red Sprite directly in addition to overseeing operations on the other three ships. Her main duty is to research the Schwarzwelt’s true nature with her crewmates on ship 3, the Elve.
There is no need for Magnetite to maintain your demons outside of the battle field, but the Moon Phase System remains intact. Changes the narrative to a science fiction setting and adds over 300 demons to play with.
Players can use up to 32 digit codes to trade passwords to unlock demons from each other; certain demons can only be obtained this way, and passwords must be revealed in order to access them.
IGN gave it 4 stars (8.5 on a scale of 10) and said that “the game’s turn-based combat system is standard stuff.” Famitsu gave it 36/40, which was the highest score given by the Japanese magazine to an Atlus game at the time.
The cover art for Strange Journey’s Japanese and American editions has been revealed.
