The Relationship Journey: Beginnings, Middles, And Ends | Marriage.com
In this post, I’d like to discuss some of the challenges that couples may face as they navigate these stages, as well as some things to keep in mind. To state the obvious, relationships can be very rewarding, but they are not easy; they are journeys that may present challenges in the beginning, middle, and end.
We may need to overcome fears and doubts in order to begin a relationship, and taking the risk of being open and vulnerable can be extremely difficult. While self-awareness is important, we may think too much at times, so it is critical to listen to our mind, heart, and body.
What to do when our baggage and our partner’s baggage don’t seem to match? Because a couple is a complex, ever-evolving entity, there is no one-size-fits-all solution.
The prospect of ending a relationship can be frightening, especially if you’ve been together for a long time. A wide range of emotions will almost certainly surface, many of which will be at odds with our rational thoughts. Kindness and patience will be some of our best allies during this phase of the journey.
Even though we are “wired” to be in relationships, they are not easy and often necessitate a lot of effort. We must look within to become aware of, accept, and understand our own thoughts, feelings, wishes, hopes, and challenges. Each step of the journey brings new challenges and opportunities for each person and the relationship itself.
